Capsize! by AGrinberg on Flickr.

Sailboat racing as a spectator sport is most fun when bad stuff happens.
In the first race of the America’s Cup World Series fleet race (Saturday, October 6, on San Francisco Bay), the Oracle Team USA AC45 catamaran took a bad turn on the first mark, nosedived into the water, and finished the maneuver by capsizing fully.
Skipper James Spithill and crew went on later in the day to win the match race (2 boats) series.
These high speed sailing machines are 45 feet long. Next year the America’s Cup finals will be raced in AC72s, (72 feet long).

Saltwick Bay, Dawn by dougchinnery.com on Flickr.

An image made of the wreck of the Admiral von Trump. There is little left of the hull of the vessel now but it makes for good foreground interest on Saltwick Bay.
If you are going down there, take careful note of the tides. It is pointless at high tide as there is nothing to shoot. A falling tide is best and watch yourself as the tide comes back in as it come behind you while you are absorbed photographing the Nab and the wreck, cutting you off from your escape route up the cliffs.
